HR said they will be able to offer more information in October when the training schedule is released. I don't expect to hear much until then.

I thought it was that training will re-comence in October, with those who have already passed assessments starting first.

Any idea of how many AE and TT have passed and are waiting to start?

TeaTowel, from what I gather AE21 and AE22 are the two courses with candidates whom have passed all assessments and waiting for a course start. I reckon there is between 5-10 people per course, not sure of the exact figure though.

Thanks jumpseatCAPT for the info. AE20 will be the last to finish for at least a year so.

" before one of the old salts here blast you with the flamethrower of hate"

Strong words, tenderfoot.

Not hate (far from it, in fact)...more like incredulity at the masses naivete that CX is giving away this training and that all you need to do is get your foot in the door, and she'll be alright mate...

This IS the widening of the wedge, and the only way the T&C will go is DOWN.

Fact: the wages are unlivable in HKG
Fact : you're bonded for 6 years, 4 years of which will have you on an unusable "rating"
Fact: there will be a scramble for the exit as soon as the bond ends
Fact: the airline is shrinking, there are scores of young captains who will be obliged to stay the course (golden handcuffs) and time to command will stretch OUT, not reduce in future.
Fact: China is heading full steam towards a financial cliff. You don't want to be here when that happens.

It goes on and on... truth is (to paraphrase Tommy Lee Jones in "The Fugitive", I don't care. Just open your eyes, don't be blinded by the shiny jets, this is not the CX of the 90's, 2000's or even 2010...no matter which way you cut it.

Stage 1A

Thanks for all who previously sent me the booklet

Coming June I will attend the stage 1A interview

One question is about the compass aptitude test

I wonder it is still consist of 6 tasks
or will have the extra task about controlling the aircraft to land, means totally 7 tasks?

Thanks so much

If you're talking about flying the ILS its part of the Advanced Compass Test which is normally done by the AE candidates.

For the Basic Compass there are 7 parts

1. Memory
2. Maths
3. Multitask
4. Flight Control
5. Slalom Course
6. Orientation
7. Basic Physics

Thanks man

May I make matching with this?

1. Memory - kind of 15000 a, 230 h, 300 s, 172.123 r
2. Maths - 24 questions in 20 mins, pen and paper are provided
3. Multitask - receive instruction and amend autopilot panel
4. Flight Control - use joystick to control VSI and rudder to control the bar
5. Slalom Course - use left and right of the joystick to control the triangle and go through the path
6. Orientation - the three instruments display and choose the correct aircraft
7. Basic Physics - For this, I really have no idea, is it something like maths with question or controlling sth?

Also, is it follow the order as well or the order is random?
And pls correct me if I am wrong even in a little part

That's pretty much it, except the order is not exactly as i listed.

The physics is like stuff you would do in highschool. Some are based on basic prinicples, some you can answer without any physics knowledge and use common sense.

Hey guys,

I am very new to all of this type of stuff. I read a couple of posts in this huge thread. It confused me a lot.

These are the requirements for the Ab-Initio Cadet Program (for people with zero or little flying experience)
  • be physically fit and qualify for a Class 1 Medical
  • meet our flight deck reach requirements
  • have the right of abode in Hong Kong
  • have a secondary school education with good passes in mathematics and science, or a degree or diploma, or passes in all ATPL subjects
  • be 18 years of age or more.

So far, i met the requirements of having the rights of abode in hong kong.

I am only 17 years of age and turning 18 next year. If i send them an application early, will there be a chance for me to start as soon as i turn 18?. Alternatively, do i have to apply when i am 18 years old next year and wait for a few months until i get accepted?

Of course, i have to see if i am accepted or not to get in. Is it difficult to get in?

This link don't seem to work http://www.cathaypacific.com/cpa/en_...ot_application

Apply for CX and KA at the same time?

Hi all

I have been invited to attend the CX initial A interview on 3 July.

But just a few days ago I noticed that KA CPL application is open as well so I wonder should I submit the application to KA.

Is there any impact that I applied for both at the same time?

Do CX and KA share the applicant information?

Hi HunGJal,

I also got an email last week and ive been invited for the Ab initio initial A interview in Hong Kong on the 18th July 2013.

I agree flights are expensive to HK.

Btw do you have any flight experience....
I personally do not have any flight experience at all.

Hi Flyer Spotter,

Don't take it serious.
Just the mon will pump out those information including altitude heading speed and radio channel, therefore a h s r
Few seconds later, it will disappear
and let you input afterward
