unless you are fast-track applicant, you can expect to wait for a matter of weeks before they get back to you. i would advise you to use the time to brush up on your aviation trivia, and your textbooks if you are a licensed pilot already. just remember that waiting is not necessary a sign of rejection, nor is it a bad thing at all.

the book will be sent to your correspondence address you listed in your application. in some cases, e.g. myself, candidates are asked to go to CXC to collect their copy.

good luck!

no, its for Cathay CPP.
Actually, i dont like the test/interview being held by middle of the week or by the end of the weekdays, which means you may take more time to wait, and the fact is the WAIT can KILL!!

Oh it has only been 5 days. No biggie. I waited 3 weeks for my call for 2nd stage, and I know someone who waited a couple months!

When I went, I told them on the first day I was there for a month unless the interviews went past that. I got called the same day to pick up the book the next day from Cx City myself. They might mail it if you're not in the country, I don't really know for that.

cx 252,

I would suggust you to be patient. They would contact you eventually. At least your haven't received the rejection email from them. So that's good news. Good luck mate.

but it is unusual for overseas applicant to wait more than a week for the reply to progress into next stage, isnt it?

So does it mean that you can not re-apply since i heard that there were 2 way of rejection, one is they will close your file and thats it, and another way is they keep your file?

you can reapply exactly one year after the date on your rejection email. i would advise you to apply when you are ready for another go, because you will never know whether or not they are willing to give you a second chance. it doesn't hurt anyway.

they will keep your file, regardless of whether you apply or not, though i am not sure for how long.

yes, a second attempt is definitely on the cards for me. i am looking at a timeframe of 1-2 years later, hopefully the demand for pilots will still be as strong as ever.

do you have any flying experience?

I'm applying this december, that's when I got rejected last. In preparation for that, I'm taking some management skills classes, going back to school (just incase Cx says no again =.=) and keeping up my flying skills by going up a couple times a month.. no money for ME-IFR yet

the suspense when waiting for a response is crazy...

no, no flying hours. what about you? we maybe could meet each other next time Anyway.Cathay hiring 270 pilots this year, its reasonable some new planes coming back and still (51 orders correct me if I wrong ) So the demand may stay strong in 2 to 5 years time lets say they getting 10 planes for each year. But some external factors may affect their program, like Credit Crunch in US and Europe, Oil Price soaring up hight, weak dollar, etc. They stopped the CPP for while during SARS.

HI, you guys attend same selection process last time yea? Yea, The waiting is horrible, to be very honest, I felt better after rejection, somehow, I dont know why. Anyway Good luck mate! Please update us here.

by the way Gents, one more question there, so does it mean next time we can start from where we been rejected? For example, I didnt go through Stage 1 interview, next time will begin on Stage 1 interview or I need to go through Initial test again.

I'm pretty sure you'll have to go back to stage one in the interview process. It seems the general sort of thing in any airline
