Cx medical
I was wondering if any recent interviewees have been requested to sign a complete medical waiver, releasing all medical information to Cx. I read that they may ask you to sign something like this. Has anyone had this happen to them?

Not that far along yet. Just reviewing the details about the company and thinking about applying. I had just come across this somewhere and was wondering if anyone had anymore details. This is usually not done in the US, so its sort of a new concept for me. Usually here, if you hold the first class medical from the FAA, you are considered good to go.

Im in the cadet pilot selection process right now. Just got invited for stage 3 and the medical. Apparently there is a chest x-ray as well. Thats all i know for now, wont know the details till i actually go do it in about a weeks time.

Hi guys. The interviews were interesting, to say the least. Most of the tests were pretty straightforward, if you have some leadership experience from college/university then you should be fine handling it. The interviews themselves were pretty easy for me, very laid back, as i was well prepared for the questions they would most likely ask me. Most of the questions were aimed at personal stuff rather than the technical. If i were you i would concentrate a lot on how to market yourself, and that includes how you dress, how you groom yourself, and the way you answer the questions. HOWEVER, this does not mean you should ignore technical. Study out of your knowledge handbook, know the stuff in there no matter how complicated it is!! if you want this job so bad then show it! If they show you a picture of a plane and ask you what type it is, please know how to recognize it! Also know things like destinations, fleet, how many aircraft, new acquisitions etc. KNOW THE COMPANY! Dont try to impress them too hard in the group exercise, however take control of the group if you need to to get everyone going in the right direction. Dont be afraid to use the resources in the room, eg. whiteboard.
The math test is a little on the hard side! I can count on one hand how many i did. Dont get discouraged if your performance there is low, i think it's more important to them how you perform under the pressure, rather than how many you get correct.
Again, just a word of warning. me and the other applicants think we know what they are looking for in us, but the choice of cadidates that made it from stage 1 to stage2 and from stage 2 to stage 3 show nothing in common with each other. I do not pretend I know what they are looking for, so it is best, that you take what i say with a grain of salt and just be yourself. In the end if you got it, you got it, if you dont, you walk.

Expect this much:
Nurse gets you to: fill out a direly long medical form, step on scales (they don't like high BMI candidates too much), sit in a soundproof box for a hearing test, take the Ishihara/Lantern test for colourblindness, stand at the end of a corridor with the lettered card hanging on the wall at the other end (visual acuity test), read from a book in your face with fine print (near vision test), finagle with other visual props to test other eye deficiencies (honestly don't know what they are but I think they were invented in the 19th century), lie down for an EKG, volunteer your veins for a blood test and your bladder for a urine test.
Doc gets you to: strip for a general body exam. I'll leave it at that.
Don't worry, nothing evil involved. The av docs are all very professional. There's a few coordination and balance tests as well.
Basically, don't be a wreck. Don't eat poppy bagels the day before. And if you let your bagel habit slip, let them know!

Hey Mullah, Do they still make you sign a complete medical waiver? The medical sounds straight forward. I think onedotleft was curious about what kind of conditions would fail their medical exam, possibly either past or present conditions. I was wondering that question myself. Thanks.

I can't remember signing any sort of medical waiver. I reckon that they rely on the information that you give them on the med questionnaire and if anything pops up during your career here at the company that you should have divulged from the beginning, they raise an eyebrow and you step into their office. The initial check up that they do on you should catch anything that they would be immediately concerned about. But i reiterate that no, I honestly can't remember signing anything that said they can check any and every hospital I've been to to see what nasties have happened to me. They would be bored with what they'd find anyway.
I'm not an av doc so I can't tell you what's disqualifying and what's not. I've heard of some guys who've had pacemakers fitted, lasik treatment done, and they're still in the company, but that's all second hand info. If you want to find out more from an av doc who's not part of CX coz you have a background in conspiracy theory studies then you can try Francis O'Tremba, he's an authority on all that stuff and very easy to chat with. At least in my experience.

To the best of my knowledge, the CX medical criteria are exactly the same as those set out by the HK CAD medical requirements, not any more restrictive. If you meet them, then you meet CX's. So if F. O'Tremba sounds happy over the phone after you discuss your condition then chances are excellent that the docs at CX city will sound the same. But can I absolutely confirm that without getting struck down by lightning? Sorry mate, can't say that I do. However there are guys at CX who go to get their medicals with Dr. O'T. So I assume that it doesn't matter to CX where you get your HK class 1 from as long as it's legit.
