CX Cadet Prog Questions
Hello guys,
I'm new to here and am a Cathay pilot wannabe. I want to know that:
1: What kind of pilots Cathay is looking for?
2: How do I know if I'm the right person to become a pilot or not?
3: What is the eyesight limit of that programme?
4: After year 12 or university is better?
5: Does a person have flight experinces increase the chance of getting accepted?
Thanks for answering.

CP - If you give yourself three or four hours and work your way through the archives, using the 'search' function as well as the dedicated link you will learn more about CX and what it takes to be a pilot than any one person can give you in one post, it is all here and just needs researching. I appreciate you would like it handed to you on a plate but on this forum it is more like a buffet! You help yourself!

Yeah BlueEagle is right. Believe me sometimes this web site can be overwhelming at times but just be patient with it and write down what posting you got the info from so you can go back to it. CX is a hit and miss when it comes to getting hired so good luck.

So is that mean a person with very very bad eyesight, still can be accepted after corrected to 20/20?
My eyes are in about 400-500 degrees or even more.
Would this make the chance of me getting accepted lower?

I cant remember where I gto the info from, but according to what I know, there's someone who is currently training as a cadet with the eye-sight of 600 degree i think...not really sure.
However, the honest truth is, it doesn't hurt you to send in your application, just give it a try n you might be suprise by the result.
GOOD LUCK!!
Ken

It's true that short-sightedness shall no longer be a problem as long as they are correctable.
CX will ask you to go to an optometrist(kind of eye examiner) for an eye test before their full medical if you have rather deep short sightednes. My eyes are around 350 and 450 respectively and I were asked to go. Certainly, you will need it too.
Make sure you don't have color blindness. That could be a problem instead.
Hope can help. Good luck!

Thanks guys, I started wearing glasses when I was 7, and thought I could never become a pilot. Now I am so happy!
Also recently I sent an email to some laser eye surgery company (in Australia), and asked if it would be a problem to pass the Class1 medical examination after that surgery, and they answered me no, and I would pass it.
I am thinking to trust they or not, because some CX pilots say that a person would not pass the class 1 medical examination after this surgery...
My application will be sent a few years later, I just wanted to make sure I can pass the Medical examination before I start flying lessons (hope so).
Once again, thank you very very much for answering!

year 9???? wow that makes u 14? i feel old now
it doesn't really matter anyway as long as u're passionate abt this industry
since u're a few years off 18 u might want to get your hands on some flying too? if u're really interested in it
so it would look great on your resume by the time u apply to cathay
keep it up
