Just a quick qusetion for anyone just had their 1st interview with CX (Cadet). Did CX change the 1st interview system which doesn't require the candidate to attend the formal interview anymore? I heard that from a friend of mine that there are tests in 1st interview only. Just wanna comfirm that whether it's ture or not..Thanks..

YMMBB

I heard that they have just split the 1st Stage into two parts, aptitude test and interview. I guess it saves resources to get candidates in for tests firsts then see if they are worth interviewing. But thats only my spetulation, and I've heard from friends that they have split the 1st Stage into two parts.

Yes. What BigTimeWannabe says.

Someone also says so in the Sticky CX Cadet thread (http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthr...5&pagenumber=3)

Thanks alot for the replies. Anyway, as you guys said, if anyone are not asked for a formal interview after all the test for 1st interview will consider they will have no chance for 2nd interview?

I'm sure they'll write you a letter if you are unsuccessful!? Or do they not bother?

Hi all,

Slightly off-topic, but this was the best thread I could think of to post into.

I just got a letter from CX asking when I can get to HK for interviews; does anyone know if there is a specific time that CX can or can't do tests and interviews? I'm in the last year of univ, so I'm thinking of going for X-mas break.

Thanks!

I think the best thing for you to do is probably write/call them straight away. No real point asking others to second guessing the interview dates. The only way you are gonna find out is by asking the people who know, CX! They've taken you this far even though you are abroad so they must want to accomodate you in their schedule. And I think the last thing they want is someone who's too shy to ask.

Good luck

Another (and kinda bone-headed) question:

When I got the CX interview, they "conveniently forgot" that I wrote down specifically that I didn't have my HK adult PIC, but I had my youth PIC. So...does anyone know how fast someone (who's 22, not 18 anymore) can switch their PICs? I'm hoping for under 2 weeks....also, would Cathay bother with me if I just said "it's in the process of switching!"

Thanks again!

HK Permanent ID Card vs HK ID Card

Since I got booted from an interview slot for end of Dec because of this, what is the difference between having a HK PIC vs a HK IC? I'm born in Canada, but both my parents were from HK...but I haven't been back in a long time (I only have a Youth card), would I be eligible for the PIC?

Surprisingly enough, the HK Immigration Dept isn't helping me at all with this; I'm even more confused after talking to them! After talking to them, I was convinced that you can only get the PIC if you were born there (three stars)....making pretty much all overseas applicants screwed for the cadet program? *shrug*

Help!

If you are not born in Canada. I guess you have to live in Hong Kong for 7 years in order for you to get it. After all, the program is for Hong Kong residents.

Hi all,
yes, there is only some test in the 1st round of screening, no formal interview until they call you after the test. and i finished my test for 2 wks already, still no reply.

jontyrhodes, is it all the successful candidate after the 1st round of test will be called after a wk? or do u know any candidate were called after 2 or 3 wks after the test? Lastly, when did u apply? and which stage are you in now?

Thx

Yeh, the idea is to recruit Hong Kong people to fly for a Hong Kong airline.

I know people in my batch for 1st round test and being called up at around the same time. I don't know about the others. I applied in late July and first test was done in early October. I will go to Cathay City again in mid-December for the second round interview.

Dimsum:

It takes 10 days for them to process a new ID card.

http://www.immd.gov.hk/ehtml/hkid_o18.htm

They will confiscate your old youth ID card, so think carefully about when you want to do this.

Thanks MrFox,

Question though; I was poking around the link you sent, and I believe this is for the HK ID Card (1-star), right? For the Cadet program, don't they need the HK Permanent ID Card (3-stars)? And as far as I know, you need to either be born in HK or have lived there for 7 years to get the 3-star card (ie: Me begging them with a CX letter won't cut it...hehe)

Thanks!

DS,

How to interpret your HKID card:
http://www.immd.gov.hk/ehtml/topical_3_2.htm

The key is not the # of stars, but the first letter that appears after it - it needs to be an A.

Cheers!
