In FedEx that's a long and complicated story, trust me! I suspect the issue here was the fact the B777 does not have a fortified cockpit door unlike the other fleet types.

Plus it appears the TNT B777s are owned by Guggenheim. FedEx already has at least one 777 (883) from Guggenheim so half the battle.

Actually the 757 crews are domiciled in and live in CGN. They are not US based.
