My understanding is that the new A//c's are leased and ariving with crews.

New hiring will start next summer when the leased crews go home.

Again, this is just rumour.

This is absolutely correct. The "FADEC" system takes care of the engines, and on modern airplanes (Airbus) the thrust levers don't move with reactions to auto-thrust inputs.

Northwest Airlines wins the prize on this one. One of their flight attendents (Name withheld) is 83 and still working. However, she doesn't work very often.
