How close can you vector an aircraft to an airspace boundary?

Quck question for the controllers out there, Assuming you are in controlled airspace and recieving radar vectors, how close can you as a controller vector an aircraft to the boundary of that...

Doc 8168 PANS-OPS simly states it can be between 3 and 10 miles for a 3 degree slope. IT does not say what determines the length of the final segment. EGLF is 3.5 degrees for both approaches.
