This ist meant as last resort and was always included, nothing to do with MCAS! Airloads could drive the elevator, etc..

Only way is to prescribe to always have 2 persons on the flightdeck. This is already standard by some airlines. This at least requires conspiracy between 2 persons...

Backrest

Indeed, should be a pilot seat. You can see the nodge in the seat cushion to allow the control column to be pulled toward the pilot. Therefore, yes, must be the backrest.

Look at the pictures from the A320 down in Perpignan.
The vertical stab was also detached upon impact and was found floating in one piece. It did not detach in the air obviously....

For sure there is an RA inop, but not for wrong readings...

We checked that one in the SIM, the hardest to us was to look at the tape and see the speed drop. It took an awfull long time to get to the point where the stick shaker came. The pitch was amazing!...

Just poor airmanship

I see it once in a while beeing an instructor in the sim, crews start the descent late, are using an idle descent mode (level change, as the thai guys did) to chase the path, and do not have any gate...
