Regarding the base they mention, in the T&Cs I've received from an agency, you can choose any of their destinations.
This is probably the carrot but how is this working in practise?

Can someone shed some light on why the limitation for autopilot engagement is 400' and why my company will only engage the a/p at 1500' agl,
