just a big empty building that will probably fall into neglect before it actually opens...

yup .. RAF Ouston is only a few miles away .. it...

yup .. RAF Ouston is only a few miles away .. it is now an Army Barracks !!

It also served as 'Newcastle Airport' temporarily in the 60's while the runway at NCL was being extended.

NCL only just broke the 5 million pax mark in 2008. Almost 600K down on 2007.

Could have been a lot worse I suppose with all the service cuts/lost routes etc.
