I almost switched it off in the first minute after the controller gave taxi instructions to a vehicle. I stuck with it. It was quite good.

Controllers are expensive. Why would you want any more than what's absolutely necessary? It's more financially beneficial to cover any shortfall with AAVAs and deal with the odd traffic regulation.

It's all relative! Yes, you will hear the old-timers saying "it's not what it used to be" etc. and that is true. But the world is not what it used to be. It's not a hardship restricted only to ATC....

Then maybe the CAA would clear you for Cat B priority for humanitarian purposes? You would have no problem getting access if that's the case.

Agree with HD. If the CAA handed out green field tickets for busy aerodromes like Gatwick, it makes a complete mockery of our lengthy training and validation process.
