I'd expect red ECAM "AP OFF" plus the cavalry charge aural warning. In this case the SOP is to read the ECAM to alert the PF.

Nevertheless that was quick thinking (and diplomatic) on your part.

Poor fellow did not realize that the MPL grads...

Yes, certainly. CAAP licenses are color-coded (or "colour"). Green for ATPLs, blue for CPLs I think, pink for SPLs etc. The entire card is colored so it looks terrible when it's photocopied....
