FAA CPLH and the CAA

I am a UK 4500 hour heli pilot, with an FAA CPLH IR. I have worked abroad for the last 14 years but now wish to return home.

I was 42 when I converted to rotary. I had a fixwing and did a lot of single engine trans-Atlantic ferry work, but it's dangerous and lonely.

I am now 51, and have 4000+ hours of rotary turbine...

I donīt know what the Dangerous Goods section say about pepperspray. Needless to say that you would have to be a "Jedi Knight" in order to maintain aircraft control if one of those canisters blew...

Whilst working in Greenland last year, I carried a Parker Hale 270 with wax nose high velocity shells. This was to protect us against polar bears - who will come and hunt you ! It was kept upright...

Heli v fixwing - no contest

A fixwing flies you - you have to fly a heli.

A fixwing has a captain, navigator, and engineer - with heli, you are all 3.

A fixwing you flightplan before you leave - with heli you do it on...

It is no different to techniques used by glider pilots. Get a strong up-draft, and you can use the power for speed instead of lift. :ok: Try it !
