I think the shuttle bus cost is supposed to be included in rail tickets, but if you've just pitched up at the car park and are not using a train, you're supposed to buy a £1 ticket from the machines...

Indeed, I never found shorthaul from T1 to be that bad to be honest, seemed a long way to some of the gates, but no worse than many other large airports.

It was the T4 flights to Basel or longhaul...
