Changing from operations to management

Operational staff all think managers are a bunch of %4^$$ers or whatever but for those that have taken the plunge and become ATC management, could you perhaps share what prompted hanging up your hat?...

I have done a search and could not fin anything on the subject so I will throw it out for discussion.
My question is really applicable to terminal airspace. Would a pilot prefer a vector 10 or 20...

Aircraft movements can mean jack squat. Airspace setup, runways, proximity of other airfields can all make somewhere 'busy'.

Not true. You said it yourself, there is a selection process with some major aptitude testing and training. Pilots just need a rich father to get a licence.
