Safety Databases
All
Our organisation is currently using AQD v6.1. Since March of this year when IE explorer was uploaded to V9, an increasing amount of our electronic contributers are now unable to submit safety reports. Having been given assurances that the upgrade to 7.2 would cure the problem, I Learn this week from Superstructure that it won't, but if we wait (until sometime next year) then the web version should deal with the problem. Mac users, well it might work with your native browsers (or not).
Safety databases are one of the bread and butter/core elements of an aviation safety dept. I have had to revamp a paper/online form solution to get around the software vendor not being able to deal with OS upgrades/System (Bit of a retrograde step really).
Anyone else got this problem with AQD ? Is it worth upgrading to 7.something ? Or wait an indeterminate time for the web based version.
Straw poll of databases in use apart from AQD anyone ?
BS

Currently on version 6 and IE8. Very very scared of what will happen if IT upgrade to the newer versions of IE.
Considering upgrade version 7 however had heard many many problems with it, but also some new functionality.
Considering 70% + of reports come electronically, this has the potential to absolutely dessimate a safety management system.
Happy to chat in more detail and about specifics if you want, sent me a PM.

I fell out of love with AQD when I found out that the descriptors don't have any definitions. Also found the support and development a bit wanting.
I have also used Q-Pulse which is marketed by gael and is quite good.

Thanks GD. The descriptor list is one of its weaknesses, and concur with the vague support, if you want an on site visit from them, that will be 1600 bucks a day !!
Looking at several other vendors, and could well be trialling an alternative in the coming months.
Australia does seem to have more than its fair share of safety database developers, in what is always going to be a niche market, with develeopments happening only slowly. If I was able to take time away from the day job (ha) then I'd give it a go myself.

In the interests of complete transparency, I should tell you that I work for Gael on our Q-Pulse product.
Don't worry, I'm not going to use this platform to start a bun fight with AQD - there's no doubt that it's widely used throughout the aviation sector and it has an enviable customer list.
A couple of points though - Gael is a certified Microsoft Gold Partner which means our product is developed and tested for their platforms so you shouldn't come against the issues you experienced with AQD.
Our support offering is second to none and we consistently and regularly recieve feedback from customers who have enjoyed a positive resolution to their issue.
There are plenty of other resources on our website (links below) that I think you might be interested in - but please do get in touch and we can discuss how best to demonstrate Q-Pulse to you.

Hi FLann1gan
I have reqested an online demo. You going to be ok with a GMT +8 hours time difference ?
Currently we are scoping out what we actually need as an organisation, for all our current and future needs wrt Safety management, and which programmes are the most closely suited to our requirements.
You tick one box so far (Programme hosted by vendor) and I look forward to seeing what else is in the Gael package.
Personally I prefer to "test drive" products (hands on trial) before making any committment. Is this something that your organisation could facilitate (via a web portal ?)
Talking soon no doubt

Also for clarity, and firms not soliciting for work on PP. I have been aware of the Gael organisation and their products for some years, I am currently reviewing my organisations safety requirements for the future, and no animals were hurt during the submission of my on-line request to Gael - Thankyou.
