HF training for maintenance in Aus
Have an essay question to answer regarding MRM training in Australia. Couldn't really find anything specific on the CASA site. Does anyone know if HF training for maintenance personnel is, or is about to become a regulatory requirement. If so, a reference would be very much appreciated.

G'day Mate, I see that you've been overwhelmed by all the responses. Have a look in the proposed new regs, Part 66 and the MOS (Manual of Standards) Part 66. I think that'll answer your questions or at least steer you in the right direction. The Oz stuff is a copy of the Brit CAA CAP 715, all of which are available on line at their respective sites.

I find HF very interesting (I first got involved in 2000 and have spent the last 10 months running back to back HF courses all over the place). EASA Part 145 requirement and all aircraft maintenance staff operating under Part 145 had to have received HF training by September 28th.
If you are interested in MRM, follow this
Part 145 carries a syllabus for HF training and CAP 716 has further information on tailored training.

Good timing lads, just spent today doing a bit of research on this. From what I can find out CASA is in the process of re-writing its Part 145 regs to reflect the EASA and ICAO SARPS recommendations for HF training for maintenance organisations.
I think they are not going to be ratified until the end of the year, unless of course you know differently!

The Australian Defence folk are a little further along the road than the civil.
Following several tragic events, the relevant Regulatory Authority (DGTA) has directed much effort to the maintainer limitations aspect of operations support.
You might like to have a look at the DGTA website (click on AMIP) and, perhaps, even give Scott Lockey a call at DGTA (Laverton - RAAF Williams) to get some target references ...

Yep, you're right, it's going to happen but the how's and when's etc are still up in the air (so to speak). I think we'll have to wait and see how CASA deal with the how, what, when and who stuff with regard to the training programme and its ongoing requirements. I did ask them some questions about the whole thing and although they thanked me for submitting the questions, they didn't answer them.
