Both the Norwegian and Danish controller unions have stated that strike is NOT on their agenda, because it would be illegal.

BeT 28th Sep 2013 17:41

Those ANSPs that are not on strike may very well be 'working to rule', which depending on the centre concerned could very easily mean a 30-40% reduction in hourly traffic figures.

Or every controller on the morning shift calls in sick.

How would that be different from what happens every day ?

deefer dog 29th Sep 2013 22:33

I guess one result of Spanish controllers striking would mean that Spanish carriers would, for a change, get the same priority as all non Spanish carriers. Both getting no service would level the field for at least one day.

I asked German ATC about wether to take the 10th off. He told me to watch the press, and I would know...

Just had a look at some of the larger European airline websites and there is no mention of this disruption at all. If European air travel is going to be severely disrupted in ten days from now, the message is not getting across.

TampaChopper 2nd Oct 2013 09:02

Traveling on 10 Oct

Thanks for the updates. I go on break on Oct 10th and cant convince my company to buy me another ticket to stay away from Europe and since there is ZERO press releases, they won't exchange my ticket :ugh:

The strike is over!

FRANKFURT, Oct 4 (Reuters) - The air traffic controllers union in Europe (ATCEUC) has called off a strike planned for Oct. 10 after the European Commission signalled its willingness to renegotiate plans to liberalise civil airspace.

Thanks Wiggy re http://www.atceuc.org/upload/ATC-EUC...-to-listen.pdf

Proves that pressure often pays off. Good points for ATCEUC ! As usual those that were against this will benefit nevertheless from the actions of the few, but that has always been the case..

From the Eurocontrol Network Manager NOP headline news:

It is expected that all 5 French ACCs will implement a significant reduction in capacity and consequent regulations starting from approximately 0400 UTC.
It is expected that these capacities will change as staff report for duty as follows:

Paris and Reims ACCs (LFFF/LFEE):
Capacity is expected to become available during the early part of the morning and precautionary regulations should be cancelled by 0600 UTC.

Brest and Bordeaux ACCs (LFRR/LFBB):
A minimum service of approximately 33% of normal capacity will available during the morning. This is expected to increase from 0900 UTC onwards until 1800 UTC when normal capacities are expected.

Marseille ACC (LFMM):
The strike is expected to be very strongly adhered to with a minimum service of approximately 33% of normal capacity from 0430-1800 UTC with an increase in capacity only after 1800 UTC.

The DGAC is implementing a flight reduction programme as follows:

Arrival and Departures from LFPG, LFPO and LFOB from 0400-1200 UTC from and to the south must be reduced by 30%.
Operators should be prepared to reduce their programmes after 1200 UTC if necessary.

It is currently not clear on the exact definition of South. This will be confirmed by NOTAM as soon as possible and this headline news will be updated accordingly.

Arrival and departures from LFLL and LFML must be reduced by 30% from 0400-1800 UTC as they are wholly within the LFMM ACC.

Operators to LFMN (Nice) are not requested to reduce their flying programmes, as traffic can route via LIMM (Milan ACC) avoiding LFMM ACC.

What do you expect, they had already planned their day off that day. I suspect they don't even know what they're striking about anymore, but hey you can't let the lack of a good reason stop plans for a strike :E

windytoo 9th Oct 2013 10:27

Absolutely typical French. I'm surprized they haven't asked the UK to supply some lovely English lamb for a Barbeque.
