ANC almost again
Is this another good example of CRM among Eastern carriers?. .. .A Nippon Cargo Airlines plane preparing for takeoff from Anchorage last weekend rolled onto a taxiway instead of a runway, but air traffic controllers quickly caught the mistake and steered the craft back on the correct path, federal officials said Friday. . .. .The 747 bound for Amsterdam with a three-man Japanese crew on board turned around and taxied to the runway without further incident last Saturday around 2:40 p.m., according to Nippon's Anchorage operations manager, Toshiaki Kuramochi.. .. .<a href="http://www.adn.com/alaska/story/780663p-832279c.html" target="_blank">http://www.adn.com/alaska/story/780663p-832279c.html</a>

The article didn't mention surface conditions. I have encountered snow covered taxiways with taxiway lights plowed over! Most Jeppesen airport diagrams, depicted in black and white and in shades of grey have ambiquously positioned taxiway identifiers. Identifiers are positioned beside the taxiways and intersections instead of directly over them. This can cause confusion, especially when parallel taxiways and intersections are involved. With all the high tech printing techniques available today, Jeppesen is very slow to improve its product line. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />
