Unhappy Aircraft down close to ABZ

Just heard that a light aircraft has come down beside Aberdeen Airport very close to the perimeter. It happened just before 0800. 2 people from the aircraft are en-route to hospital. The aircraft colided with a car during impact but apparently the driver of the car is not hurt.

Police cheif just on the radio:

the plane came down on Wellhead Drive, which is being described as an access road to the airport.

It crashed shortly after takeoff on its way to Denmark.

CAR HIT IN AIRCRAFT ACCIDENT

A woman driver has escaped unhurt after a light aircraft crashed on to her car close to Aberdeen airport.

Two people from the plane were taken to hospital shortly after it came down two miles south of the airport.

The mail plane crashed by a roundabout on a busy road in an industrial area. Emergency services are tackling a blaze at the scene and the airport is closed.

What a strange world we live in. People are being rushed to hospital and little pillocks like rupetime think it's funny - very sad.

Rupetime,

I think the point is that laughing in the face of death is only permitted by those facing death.

can we go back to the topic please....

Beeb says SA227...

Three people have escaped serious injury after a light aircraft crashed into a car near Aberdeen Airport.
The plane had just taken off and was heading for Inverness.

The mail plane crashed on Wellheads Drive, a main thoroughfare in the Dyce area of Aberdeen near the city's airport.

The plane - a metro liner twin prop - had just taken off on the routine mail flight to Inverness when it came down, hitting a car.

The pilot, the co-pilot and the woman who was the sole occupant of the car have all been talking with ambulance personnel at the scene and appear to have escaped serious injury.

Three fire fighting appliances went to the scene with other specialist units in support.

An RAF helicopter was also scrambled.

The airport is currently closed and traffic in the area is very congested.

watch yourself Rupetime!

It's not that they have a problem with your completely inoffensive quip. You have just given the PPRUNE high and mighty possie the chance to look down and patronise, which is the main reason a lot of these people come here.

Most of the guys that have dissed you are far too busy feeling smug aboout themselves to worry about the lucky people involved in that accident.

Personally, I thought it was quite funny.

Hear hear (or is it here here??) Kirstey. There is always humour in
tragedy and as this was not a major bump in aviation terms, I think the offended are being a bit touchy. Don't let the b*****s get you down Rupetime

Must admit the first comment to come out of one of our local wits when he heard that a female driver had crashed in to the wreck was " wonder if they will have to fill out 2 burd strike forms"

Anyway glad to hear everyone is safe.

Cool

Glad all are safe. Look forward with interest to AAIB conclusions as to cause ...

Feel sorry for the Danish pilots who clearly thought they would be home for their Christmas (which is today!!)... hope their company can get them home somehow if they are fit enough!

Hope y'all have safe flying this festive season and remember de-ice, de-ice, de-ice!!!!

Weather this morning was crap. Think I recall winds southerly, 22 gusting 29. BKN001 OVC002. From what I gather aircraft seems to have had multiple birdstike, then gone off to the right as the area it rests is about 3-400 metres west of the end of rwy 16. Seems to have come down in a field then skidded through into the road, which at that time, would normally have chockers! Airfield re-opened at 1000.

Pic on the BBC site is a Metro. Belonging to North Flying but obviously wet leased to Ben Air.

Good to see that no one is seriously hurt!
