I am so happy to be retired. Spent my last six years flying freight around Europe. Every airport we passed through, a pleasure if it could be called that. Polite, efficient and friendly. Except the UK. I and colleagues had some real altercations, myself at Heathrow, Stansted, Luton and the worst, Belfast. This guy had probably had enough of the Belfast style treatment. It is cumulative.

my bold

With good reason. The terrorists proved that you don't need missiles, guns, grenades, bombs in tape recorders or anything like that - you just need a box cutter, (small retractable knife), or arguably, a broken glass bottle, to bring down an entire skyscraper.

What worries me is those private jets with no security. Whats to say that one day; one of those won't be used against a building or a city ?

You're missing one important ingredient: an assailant willing to sacrifice themselves for their cause. Until 9/11, it was presumed that even deranged hijackers still didn't want to die.
