no need to get shrill. Neither Iran nor Israel wants to down a full Emirates A380. NOTAMs aren’t the only way to inform. A quiet heads up is no doubt given.

Thats the standard route at the moment for a lot of carriers. With all the issues in Africa it must be making life difficult / busy for Egyptian ATC, as anything routing to Eastern Africa is going that way as well due to issues in Algeria and central Sahara areas.

Not only at the moment but generally. I've certainly been on Dubai to Heathrow in past years which routed over the Red Sea and Egypt.

I pax DXBLGW and vv often and don't remember ever going over Egypt before. It's always down the Gulf, over Iraq, over the Black Sea etc.

There is only a limited amount of things you can do in the back of an A380 when you don’t fancy the movies. Seriously, the only reason I posted my first comment on this thread is because I felt, rightly or wrongly, that posts were suggesting that EK were maybe not making as much of an effort to avoid certain airspace as some other carriers.
