See it all the time.

People feverishly slamming the thrust levels into reverse the moment the aircraft touches down. Of course that becomes muscle memory and in difficult situations you are giving away a go-around as soon as the main gear touches down.

Not sure what the rush is.

things like that are the primary reason the flight manuals forbid a GA after the reverse thrust had been deployed....you gotta make damn sure that you are¡¡¡NOT!!! gonna go around after you pull the reversers

If you come over the threshold at Vref at 50' or below on a 3 deg glide angel with the throttles at idle just like the AFM describes then most of the time you will not need TR. If you do use them then you should unlock them first, check you have both sides unlocked before selecting any power. Simple basic procedure and one which in this case might well have led to a normal landing or go around.
