I just travelled by in a crewbus to the FOC in MUC, when BY 201, a 767 landed on rwy 26L in MUC. Aircraft was declaring emergency before, departing traffic was stopped, arriving traffic went into holding. The 767 was parked on the cargo apron in front of the big hangar, and the passengers left the plane over stairs into the busses provided by the Airport. Then fire fighters left the scene, apparently to another alarm, because they used horns and flashing blue lights?
I didnīt find out the kind of emergency. Time of landing was around 12.25z.

Happy, when everybody is ok,

As cabin crew on duty, waiting to crew a delayed IBZ on the 17/5/02, I was asked to position to MUC with my crew to take over from the crew who operated this flight.

I was instructed from my crewing dept. that the MAN crew involved in this incident reported a burning smell in the galley, and the decision was taken to land in MUC. The "smell" turned out to be the smell of decaying food eminating from the waste shute. However I think the decision to land was sound.

The crew were running out of hours, and we were to replace them and night stop in LCA. We refused(tried), as we considered ourselves to be unrested. We operated the IBZ.

I would like to know what happened to this flight and passengers and crew also.

I'm Confused - You were rested for a MAN-IBZ-MAN but "unrested" for MAN-MUC-LCA? How much rest will I be needing for a round trip LCA that I am rostered for shortly?

Im LGW Based.

There are other factors why we initially refused to operate the flight( we were told in the end we had to do it, but crewing changed their mind at the last minute ), but I really shouldnt discuss them here without knowing all the facts on what occurred on that flight.

Hence to say, night stopping in LCA, then operating the flight the next day to MAN then BA back to LGW (possibly after another night stop in MAN) all in the same uniform and underwear was not something I particularly wanted to do. Again I say I do not know the full reason why the MAN crew felt they could not carry on.

Maybe down to your hours. You are then operating 3 sectors. MAN-MUC-LCA-MAN. This reduces the amount of hours you can operate, as well as taking into account the time you checked in.
Once did a MAN-TFS-MAN. Divt to LGW due tech. Due the late hour we checked in and with us now doing 3 sectors our duty time was then cut down. we didm however operate LGW-TFS-PMI where a new crew took over and we positioned as pax on the aircraft to MAN.
