incident at east mids airport

On frequency today east mids radar heard an aeroplane had gone off the runway and a ryanair flight who went into the hold for a while decided to divert to birmingham.anymore info on what the problem was anyone.

Officially I can't give details and must refer you to the press office.


But to give you a clue it wasn't that major at all and the runway was reopened in around 30 minutes.

Heard it too. I had just done an ILS approach and was climbing back up to 2000' when I heard the Ryanair call, followed by the controller saying that he might have to put him in the hold at EME due to an aircraft possibly going off the runway.

Hope everyone is ok.
