Off-runway at Pilanesberg, SA

From Cape Times, SA:

"A chartered Hawker Siddeley aircraft, carrying five crew members and 43 tourists from Italy, veered off the runway shortly after landing on Tuesday, hitting a barbed wire fence at the Pilanesberg International Airport in the North West.

Airports Company South Africa (Acsa) spokesperson Solomon Makgale said none of the crew members and passengers were injured.

"The aircraft, which was flying from Skukuza to Pilanesberg, landed safely, but the hydraulic system failed during breaking action. This caused all aircraft control mechanisms to fail as well," said Makgale.

A successful emergency evacuation was conducted in less than two minutes after the aircraft came to a complete standstill, he said. - Sapa"
