They already are removed on our aircraft
And the pilots flying these aircraft no doubt are invincible and will never have a need to extracate themselves from a botched landing !!!

What??!!
Okay, I'll make this a longer message.
The axes should have been removed years ago,
In 46 years of professional flying I never ever used one even to open a tin of beans in the galley.
Can any of you out there give us an example of when a crew member used the axe to exit an aircraft in an emergency?

JW411,
When a 747 had an unscheduled landing in Bogata in 2008. One of the crewmembers' who was lucky enough to not be seriously hurt, used the crash ax to break out the R-2 window. It took him around 35 minutes to break the window enough to escape.
unfortunately, they do get used from time to time.
