A Qantas A380 has been forced to return to Singapore's Changi Airport after pilots were forced to shut down one of its four engines.
QF32 was bound for Sydney when the engine failed.
A Qantas spokesman said the problems were with engine number two. She did not know why the engine had to be shut down.
The incident sparked widespread rumours over the internet through Twitter, that the plane had crashed, which Qantas said were wildly inaccurate.

The rumours are stating that engine#2 suffered problems, Uncontained Engine Failure is the one coming up...
Also the cowling could come off or something... remember that ENG2 and ENG3 are the ones with Reverse Thrust...and the cowling slides back...
Thank God, the plane landed safely in SIN..

Indonesian Media are showing photos of very large sections of what can only be aft fuselage or engine cowling (only sections of Qantas A380 painted Red/White) on the ground in Batam. Not getting all of it as its in Indonesian but an eyewitness speaking to reporter is also describing emergency exit placarding.
Will be interesting to find out what has caused this.

Just heard on BBC Radio 5Live that the plane is currently trying to land back at Singapore.
They had also been reporting that an explosion had been heard over Indonesia.
