Really serious stuff. We will only reject for three reasons after V1, Fire, Enj. Failed. take off config. warning horn.....bot I assure anyone that they will not get airborn in a 74 if one goes into reverse. Somebody must shut it down quick.

Would you really still abandon the T/O after V1 for an engine fire (with or without any power loss) or failure in a 747? ok if one goes into reverse that changes things a little.

Unhappy

Thats how a C-5 Galaxy was lost in 1991 out of Ramstien AB, Germany. Thurst Reverser was not completly stowed and deployed during TakeOff. The crew did not have any lights to indicate what had happened (a fault that has been fixed) and rolled in off the end of the runway. No survivors.

Very, very sorry. I re read my posting and I meant to say "between 80 knots and V1" . .No reject after V1 My point is you could never reach Vr with one in reverse. Easy enough for engineer to shut down...but not in checklist.. .I should read my post more carefully
