Norwegian 737-800 fire warning & evac at ENRY
Nowegian Air 737 enroute Barcelona had to return to Rygge with a fire warning in one of the wings after departure 20 minutes after departure.
Emmergency landing and evacuation via slides
Norwegian Air makes emergency landing - Aftenposten.no
The alarm was later found to be false.
Some minor injuries among the passengers due to the slide evac.
The a/c is one of the new -800s NAX is buying to replace the older 300s.

I saw this earlier today - and was wondering what it could have been...
Now it is reported that the signal came from "a detector in the wing" and that it was false.
Seems dramatic from an indicated fire - but are there detectors in these aircraft that might indicate a fire that might puncture the wing-tanks?
Would explain the hurry in getting the passengers off..

If it was, there is just QRH actions to be taken in such an event. Off the top of my head I don't think it would lead to a diversion and an evacuation.
Most probably the press getting the details wrong in their haste to publish the article. Could have been a cargo fire, anything else (such as an engine fire) would have generated numerous warnings which could have been cross checked. It wouldn't susprise me if the vigour the baggage handlers use in shifting bags had damaged a sensor.

There is no fire WNG for the wings; engines only. It was a/some passenger(s) that reported seeing "flames" on the wing (this is confirmed officially now). The CCs could apparently not determine if it indeed were flames or red-/pink-ish de-icing fluid. Neither pilot left the FD to confirm, from what I hear... The a/c had been de-iced, and there was a low sun (clear skies) shining on the bright and shiny wings.
