I think what theyre doing is a "constant trial" with the Airbuses vs Boeings.

But the Boeings more poular with paxs im told, Buses very cheap to run.

From management recently. Latest plan but yet to be confirmed. Manchester keeps 737-500 with a probable reduction to only 8 aircraft with BRAL/Brymon picking up the shortfall. A318 to BHX and BHX 319's to LHR. True about the A321 lack of availability. As for the 757/300 heard only (strong)rumours. Still if they get them thats a 757 command for me yippee.

757s replaced on a daily basis with A320s on
MAN/LHR. Result lots of pax bounced around
from one shuttle to another.

In the good old days you could always depend
on the 767 to take up the shortfall.

So lets get the 300s up and running.

I think I've answered my own question/point but here goes.

I thought Big Airline, as reported in their internal newspaper, was going to shift some short haul from T1 to T4, some long haul from T4 to T1, so the size issue, (where the 300 is concerned) won't necessarily be a problem if operated out of T4?

That said, I imagine, the switch outlined above is going to be a long way off, due to the necessary gate modifications at T1 to accommodate B777's. I don't know, I'm not a civil engineer.

However, if you are then able to fit in B777's in at T1, no doubt you can fit in B757-300's, so any long/short haul move becomes slightly superfluous? If BA does order B757-300's, you've got to do ground mods to fit these in at T1, then surely you're back to square one?

236...erm am I missing something here? The size issue is about downsizing and capacity not gate suitability.
As for T1, what do you think all the works for? Also SAA manage to park -400's there.

Since the A319 and 321 are built on the same production line at Hamburg, switching from one to the other ought not to be difficult. Switching to 320s might be trickier, since they're built at Toulouse.
