What on earth happened? The pictures look like something from that Michael Crichton book, 'Airframe'.

Well remember some long years back a QF 747 which hit a hail-storm over the Alps, crew electing to continue to London.

Can still vision it sat in BA's TBK Bay4 with nose-cowls perfectly planished as with a ballpein hammer, radome and scanner wrecked, boatfairings denuded and much else including windscreen, I believe, at very close structural limits.

Don't suppose anyone has pictures?

Rod.

Sorry Buzzerd, Trojan and other mates...forgot to do the translation...i speak Portuguese...my mistake...here it is

"The pilot didnt watch the WX Radar and entered CB.
A/C »»» TAM A320 Reg: PT-MZV, FltNº4312, 138 PAX+6 crew destination Sao Paulo/Congonhas, 5 minutes after got airborne, when reaching 9'000Ft, entered an Ice Formation, resulting in damage at the windshield, WXRadar, A/P and the inflight separation of the nose radome, wich after that, also reached and damaged the Water Drain, Taxi Lights, the both Engine intakes, both elevator-stabilizers leading edges and also the LE closer to the Nr1 Eng.
Also caused the damages at the rear-fuselage WC.

Landed at Aeroporto Internacinal de Guarulhos, without declaring any emergency procedure...
