Forest fires in CA

My appologies if this has been discussed before. I did not do the search.
Why is nobody thinking about to use the B747 fire fighter (bomber) to support
the FD in CA. I would think it could be very usefull.
Is it for certification reasons ? Money ? Or is the aircraft simply not ready yet to do the job ?
Any thoughts ?
