" Bob, the world is full of d*ckheads, so why are 99% of them in the aviation industry..?"
Name changed to protect the inocent

I wouldn't work for them if they were the last airline on the planet, unless I had a family to support, I don't so I won't.

Although Ive never met MOL, and the fact that FR are admitedlly doing very well... its comments like these that infuriate ALL aviation professionals. Hes so caught up in his own success that hes lost touch with reality.

Wonder if this munchkin is related to Willie ''4-foot F**k all'' Walsh, and in turn, Mr Loius Walsh from Pop Idol... They all seem to have rather big opinions of themselves and are outspoken in everything they do

Heres the deal ''Mr O-really?'' Do what you do best and keep FR flying, based out of Ireland (but really based out of STN). Dont rock the boat with your loyal staff, dont noise up the European Parliament or the Governments of the countries you fly to and dont annoy the aviation industry either. Let people will communication based skills do the talking for you, cause youre not doing yourself any favours and you may just be off the Christmas list of a good few pilots and cabin crew - mostly from within your airline...

PS - Willie, BA is all about Britain - not just LHR and the wonderful T5. Last time we all looked, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales were still part of the Union. So sad you missed that lesson at school... Hope T5 rewards you as much as we have in the Regions Nevermind, with days like today, once T5 opens there will be 'No Delays' will there... Greed - pure and simple...

fmgc,
I would say who is he and in fact is he telling the truth, i have heard lots of these stories myself but are many of them true?
FR employs over 1000 pilots, lots of them seem happy with the deal, and many more are keen to join.
I say again, FR may not be the best place to work, but it's better than a lot i can think of!

Ah give it a rest with the Willie Walsh and MOL crap. The both of them do a great job and run very successful airlines (fact). People who moan about them are just jealous of their success. His quotes are hilarious and its even funnier when people tristar and thegorilla get more annoyed.
Sure since Willie Walsh has left Aer Lingus that airline has been farting about since then, they need him back.

Go and moan about Andrew Harrison or something.

Crospaul,

Thanks for that list of quotes on p1. That is why MOL is a genius. He speaks his mind and that is also, in the main, what the general public thinks too.

How many on here who do not have their head up their own arse can honestly say they are offended or, indeed, disagree with any of his quotes above??

I am in no way jealous of MOL. I think he is an insult to the industry, a thorn in its side. He will never make me jealous or be a role model for as long as I live. You sir, are an idiot for giving him respect, and then coming on this forum, full of aviation inthusiasts, pilots, wanabes and genuine people who support aviation and posting this cr@p.

eng123 you couldn't be more correct.

I would say practically everybody in this forum would agree with 99% of those quotes, if they have a sense of humour that is.

There is way to much political correctness in the world today and its great to see a CEO of company express himself like that. No sugar coted bull that every other airline spits out on a daily basis.

Who in here is a wannabe? What exactly is a wannabe? I'm a pilot in training, and an enthusiast. You sir don't know me, thank god, so please refrain from calling people you have never met 'idiots', because at least 80% of this forum say fairplay and well done to MOL. Try have a normal opinon/argument without slandering people.

Anyone can be abusive, its not hard. Hence I find another reason to call MOL an A$$H0L£. He's not the only one who can say what he thinks and get away with it. Most others have manners, courtesy and respect for other professionals in the same industry, even though they're competing head-to-head. MOL wouldn't recognise a clean fight if one smacked him in the teeth. This is why he has made so many court appearances. He is a disgrace to aviation. All anyone can say in his defence is that he offers the public low fares. Sadly he thinks this gives him authority to insult people. Not true. This man is pathetic.

The most telling thing about the gentleman referred to is his habit of mouthing off at the press, competitors, pilots and anyone else who gets on his radar screen and irritates him
.
However just try returning the favor and he will have you (or threaten to have you) in the courts very quickly. We have seen this behaviour before in the person of one Robert Maxwell.

Mr O'leary Says What He Thinks!!

Fact:
  • Ryanair has been increadably succesful under the leadership of MOL!
  • This leadership style is dominant and very strong with "Ryanair behaviour/work attitude" shown through every level of management and newcommers learning this behaviour and adapting from a very early stage.
Question:
  • Is this leadership style one which the majority support or think is correct?
  • Do we unquestionably follow a leader without questioning their approach? I can think of many strong leaders that got it completly wrong....WW II etc?
  • Does success involve making enemies?
  • Is there a place for RESPECT in the avaition Corporate industry?

Good morning guys and gals, just been reading the late shifts comments, mol realy can put the wind up us! One thing struck me, all those who came down against mol would appear to be pilots with careers behind them and experience to understand the real "plague apon our house" that the guy represents. The other side would be guys in training and ballsout who has been working for mol for almost a whole year! Perhaps it should be ballsout & trousers down just to be on the prepared side. 5k per month is not bad and I hope you show the poor unfortunate sitting beside you, he or she must realy love that. Before you retaliate ask yourself, why is it that those who have been around the block dislike the man so much?

Do I like MOL?
As an aviation professional:
He supplied jobs, bought aircraft, helped in the trend of low cost carries rolling out across europe
As a passenger:
Lower fares and competition. never again do I want to see the days when flag carriers dominated, flights to other than capitals
MOL recognises airtransport is exactly that transport, like a bus service.
His comments mostly to get free publicity (MOL crude, Branson fluffy, different tactic than Branson, who most seem to think was the first to ballon around the world, but both are ruthless business men)
I do not agree with his methods all the time but sometimes you need to fight idiot regs that are thrown at the industry and get publicity in main stream press in opposition to unnecessary costs placed on the industry (no point keeping them in polite IATA/ICAO etc meetings) otherwise they do a Freddie Laker on you and squash you.
He has a profitable airline (which is better than working for cash strapped one) so good luck to him and to suceed in aviation you need to be a a***hole and bull**** artist (fact, having working on three different continents I can attest to that) it is not a bunny hugging industry

Fook me. There is a lot of whining going on in here!
Gents MOL must be laughing at you lot.
Why not head down to your local and have a pint?
If one pint doesn't work, have a few.
It's bound to make you feel better.
