30What??

Can not claim that I have crossed 30W more than a single time sitting in the front, but then i had 11 landings in one day in stead... commercially that is

Girlfriend mentioned that I looked older as well, and performed as an old man, when i got home that night

Isn't anyone going to inform Redcarpet (of the RAF - a revered organization in my country) the meaning of 30W? He asked the question and you have flown right by him.

Actually, Millers, I fancy that post was TIC, since there are very few RAF 'active ops' west of the Greenwich meridian. I guess the 'W' button on the keypad will last a long time.

SAATS

Any feedback on how it is doing?

Just to keep rmiller774 happy, I am pleased to inform Redcarpet that '30W' is a place that is between Ascension and Mount Pleasant.

Farns744, Sincere Congratulations!
Is there a tatoo involved?

Now as if it was even a consideration......
no worries on competition from the likes of me.

East, of course. That's what the 'E' on the compass-card means: Europe. The 'W' means Wild West.

Eeeehhh guys,

I usually fly to the far east/africa, but coming friday (TMI 329) I'll be going to JFK.

What the hell is this SAATS thing? Is everything going to be easier, or am I going to find out while reading the books in the Scottish FIR?

This touches on it:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shanwick_Oceanic_Control

Basically, SAATS is the new ATC computer system due to replace the current 20 year-old Flight Data Processing System, (FDPS), at the Prestwick OACC.

It is due to go live tonight and for the next few days there will be some minor flow restrictions in place for Westbound traffic entering the Shanwick OCA, just to ease the system/Controllers/Assistants into working flat out without any regulation.

If all goes to plan these restrictions will be lifted ASAP.

Hope that answers your question.

Jonesy Boyyo, What a rambling, bitter posting! Perhaps your your last "delicate landing" rattled your brain. Try to chill out a bit.

good landings make a good pilot?

Jonsey, if you think making smooth landings is the sign of a good pilot I'm afraid you really miss the point. Making smooth landings is about the most least important feature of being a good, professional pilot.

Sounds like a student pilot remark.
