100 Position Reports at 30W

This morning crossed 30 West for 100th time this year.
Not bad for TMI 323.
Is this a record?

Congratulations!
Perhaps your airline should get CPDLC so that you don't even have to do a position report.........

Record?
I doubt it.
A good friend of mine, a retired TWA Captain has Atlantic crossings that number well over 2000, in three different aeroplanes, B707, L1011, B747.

2000 in a year, eh, 411A? That is some going!

Yes, Farns, I reckon that will be a record.

There is a colleague, who a few years ago wanted to create an e-mail address. He wondered where he really lived, and at that time we were battling to & fro across the Atlantic. He ended up deciding that XXXXX@30W was an appropriate address. He grew old quickly but gracefully, and once off the pond crossing recovered his true youth.

It gets even better, BOAC.
TWA had a couple of guys that were triple qualified...L1011, 767, 747.
One bid Atlantic crossings only...for five years straight.

He was however, looking older well before his time.
The sims wore him out....

The Atlantic is OK but they keep moving the airways every night.

I prefer "Radar Contact Lost, Report NIPPI to Tokyo Radio..."

All too right, Airbubba, the Atlantic can be a pain.
Trans-Pacific is much better...longer flights, longer layovers, more pay (usually).
Dozing for dollars, Captains especially

My highest number of 30W crossings in a year is 88 (1992). Highest number in a month is 12 and managed two in an hour in 1985.

BOAC

I'm in stiches....your previous comment has been, and is still completely lost on him!

Anyway...for me, the Indian Ocean is far worse than the Atlantic....

Let's keep it as our little secret, eh? Don't want to make it TOO obvious............

Mind you, Captain A has to have some sort of record! What happened, Sir - change your mind? Forget to lock the house?

Perhaps you could make a few orbits out there and make more than one call per tripo :-)

As an RAF chap, where is this 'West' that you all speak so fondly of.

Wonder how many more you'll make this year if Shanwick bring in their new SAATS system tomorrow, could go horribly wrong.

We'll see.

Experience tells me faith and aviation haven't had much to do with each other since the Wright brothers.

30 West. So What?

Well.whoopee do! So what? All this thread tells me is that you've probably only done 50 landings this year. I don't care about the quality of your position reports. How are your landings? Also, how are you on navigational errors, clearance readbacks etc? Are your family proud of this statistic or are you so shallow no reasonable woman would have you? You're not that guy/gal who pretends to be a delta winged, T tailed individual are you? Could be you are on the Halifax - Prestwick run this year in which case you have my sympathies. If you're military then forget all before. Me , I fly often, land frequently(not always delicately) but I don't see passing 30W as a great achievement(do it myself sometimes). Maybe the Easyjet guys would like to start telling us how many LGW - GVAs theyve done?

I agree; you are to be congratulated.
You also have my sympathy.
I crossed 30W for the very last time (in the front seat) a few weeks ago.
Thank God.
Best wishes and Happy landings.
