Love the paragraph:
It touched down at 20:51 yesterday evening, apparently without problems, but East Line says: “The aircraft ran out of runway and fell apart. It landed successfully but broke into several very large pieces.”

sua cuique voluptas
aircraft had no passengers but a crew of six including four pilots
and:
East Line says that the aircraft came to rest about 400-500m (1,300-1,650ft) from the runway
Glad that there were no fatalities.

On a CRM type note, I can't help thinking that it's all too easy to take unnecessary risks on ferry flights (not for one moment suggesting that these chaps did - let's wait for the report). You can get too relaxed because there are no passengers and do silly things that you would otherwise never consider.
Guilty as charged on at least one occasion - in retrospect I consider myself fortunate to have got away with it on that trip.

That Pravda shot's a cracker.
Pravda editor: "Vladimir, search interrnet and get photo of plane for story!"
Vladimir: "Da, editor. Vill zis one do?"
Editor: "Is it a plane?"
Vlad: "Da."
Editor: "Zen da, it vill do!"
Not only is it a 747, but I think it's a shot of that Saffie 747 they gave to a local museum, which they managed to put into a teeeny little GA strip with about a bee's d1ck clearance on each side of the main gear.
