From Manx Radio;s Website

A full emergency was declared at Isle of Man airport this morning (Thursday), after an indicator light suggested possible problems with the undercarriage of a passenger Plane.

The Euromanx Jetstream 31 from Belfast was preparing to land at Ronaldsway when the situation arose.

The pilot circled round the airport and on the second approach all three green lights came on, as required.

The plane, with its 19 passengers and two crew, landed safely just after 11.00 am.

In accordance with normal procedure there was a full turnout of the emergency services.

Hope this Helps

Break wind upwind of the airport director's office and there will be a full 'emergency services & coastguard callout'. Safety culture doctrine is running out of control at RWY these days.

Security is also taking on a gestapo guise as well - some very nice people working there but some recent recruits can't even interpret the written instructions given to them by the man upstairs.

With respect San Expiry, you are talking b*******!. Safety culture at Ronaldsway, as regard to emergencies, has been the same for years. An aircraft with an unsafe gear indication is a Full Emergency.

With increasing traffic levels it is inevitable there will be more incidents of this nature. The two last major emergencies were both as a result of MAYDAY calls from the crew. Are you suggesting we over-reacted to these?

For those interested, the reason we involve the Coastguard for all emergencies at Ronaldsway is two fold - a) we are surrounded by water and every emergency is a potential maritime incident and b) if it all does go pear shaped they are a valuable manpower resource, able to provide us with upwards of 20 trained volunteers within minutes.

As far as Security is concerned, the only comment I can make is that they are on a hiding to nothing. Do the job by the book and they get slagged off, bend the rules even slightly and they risk the sack. What would you do in their situation?

What's happening about security? I heard a whisper that there are changes to airport policing planned in April, meaning there will be less officers at the airport?
