Sounds nasty.
What was the initial verdict of the engineers in Paris ?
Did the crew fly the aircraft back to Newcastle ?
Are the crew still with Gill ?

Just to avoid any confusion the AAIB report states it was an F28 Mark 100. This will be known to most pruners as the Fokker 100, not an F28.

As it was equiped with Tays it should be a Fokker 100 or possibly a Fokker 70

F-28's had Speys and were Mark 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000 etc

GUVNOR where are you?

Not bad for a couple of "SYSTEM MONITORS" eh?

Thank God there were no real pilots on board, what a mess they might have made. Eat your words and apologise to the pilot community if your man enough.

Well done to the crew of that aircraft.

Thumbs up

As I've said before, it's at times like these that you earn your money.

Well done that crew!

Still, as far as systems monitoring is concerned, let me quote from the Conclusions:

" The information on the status of AP1 was available on the PFD, but the pilots’ preoccupation with trying to maintain control of the aircraft meant that this was not noted. This is not altogether surprising since human factor studies have shown that, at times of heavy workload and in emergency situations, it is possible for pilots to be unaware of both visual and aural alerting devices."
