Still, as far as systems monitoring is concerned, let me quote from the Conclusions:
" The information on the status of AP1 was available on the PFD, but the pilots’ preoccupation with trying to maintain control of the aircraft meant that this was not noted. This is not altogether surprising since human factor studies have shown that, at times of heavy workload and in emergency situations, it is possible for pilots to be unaware of both visual and aural alerting devices."
