Spanair Jet on Fire while Taxying in CGN

An Bord waren 168 Menschen.

Babelfish Translation:
(very rough, but I am sure there will be an English news item somewhere soon)

EMERGENCY AT THE AIRPORT COLOGNE/BONN

Passenger jet catches fire

On the way to the runway an airplane of the Spainair caught fire. The 168 passengers left the jet via the escape slides. 7 people had to be taken to hospital for observation.
Cologne - the incident happened in the morning, a few minutes before the aircraft was about to start. Why the airplane caught fires is so far unclear accordsing to an airport spokeswoman. "The A/C wanted to fly off. On the way to the runway it caught fire" , airport spokeswoman Anja Stenzel van Melis said.

"If an engine was on fire, is still unclear", the spokeswoman said. There were 168 people on board. 7 taken to the hospital for observation.
Flight JKK 1804 was supposed to take off at 10 o'clock for Palma de Mallorca. The airplane concerned is Douglas a MD-83, which can carry between 142 and 180 passengers.

Profit Max, I cleaned up the Babelfish translation a bit; less entertaining now but more readable.

I posted too fast: The news story has changed already - apparently due to damage to the hydraulics, oil was dripping onto the engines, which created the smoke. So, no fire here.
