Well, difficult one to get any decent information on but it would appear that an American West A320 flying from Wichita to Kansas had an engine problem and safely diverted to Albuquerque. So the cause of "this" was an engine problem. Looks Like. Shocking innit.

Well, it could be that, or it could have been something a "tad" more interesting like an inflight thrust reverser deployment of an IAE V2500...?
Go back to your Microsoft Flight Sim mate... ;-)

Why on Earth would it be something like an inadvertent inflight thrust reverser deployment. Nous sommes trying to be un peu dramatic ici, peut-etre? That would cause major repercussions in the aviation business that you would have heard about by now!
When a twin has a serious engine problem or shuts one down, the standing instruction is 'land at the nearest suitable airfield'. I guess that would be the reason if 'engine problem' was confirmed. Let's not overdo the drama.

A 6000 flight number is a Mesa or Freedom (normally referred to as freescum) Canadair CRJ 200 or 700. The ICT PHX route was dropped from mainline service some time ago. Most of the expansion of flying for HP has been by the barbie jets with mainline cities turned over entirely to the RJ. Mesa is a substandard operator with poor reliability and inexperienced flightcrews.
The bearing problem has been fixed for some time on the 'bus fleet. United had a larger number of jets affected but we had at least 2 diversions because of the problem.
