Minor incident?

Gentlemen!

Any comments on this?

http://sic.sapo.pt/article27952visual4.html

Sorry, the text is in Portuguese but basically the landing gear collapsed when the plane was pushing back off stand.
The airline s spokesman refered to the incident as a "minor" one, which i suppose it was, since there were no casualties.

I don't see how the nose gear could collapse if it was being pushed. A320 nose gear retracts forwards so, unless it sheared and went backwards, it must have been being pulled by the tug.

I also wonder if the forward fuselage will be "rippled" by the impact with the ground. Not exactly "minor" is it!

Bad day.

I seem to recall the AF incident was due to some engineering work being carried out incorrectly at the gate. Maybe lightning has struck twice?

Have a look at the picture, here.

It looks like the push-back onto the taxiway had been completed, tug and tow-bar had gone. Was it stationary, or had he/she started taxy-ing?

But, interestingly, no sign of the nose leg, either!

I wonder if there is any connection to the Airbus OEB that requires the 'Anti Skid/Nose Wheel Steering' switch to be in the 'OFF' position for push-back?

It looks like the nosegear retracted clean with gear doors closed. Don't think it was a collapse.
