Basic rules N° 1: If you have to ask this question, you probably do not comply with the minimum requirements.....

It should be just in the range at 100k/Year......but this is just "word of mouth"..

Abu Dhabi Aviation

Any information or comments about working for this Company?

nowherespecial 12th January 2017 07:45

I heard there were recent changes in the leadership and they are looking to be a bit more international, not just locally focussed. My info is not the best employer but by no means the worst, they are very much like a lot of others, just based in AD. The majority of the office work is done by the staff they bring in from India. The shop floor/ worker bee level is like many other operators, expats dominate from a variety of backgrounds.

Have you been offered a job there?

bluesideoops 17th January 2017 01:23

Not been offered a job but possibly interested in a position that has come up - seems like the Company has evolved and improved over the years but keen to know what the culture is like?

Hi Ppruners once again ADA has SACKED another Maintenance Director, and by what i heard only other Aussies liked him, during his reign of 2 years he managed to fire more Licenced Engineers that the previous Maintenance Director that stayed for almost 6 years.
Some say he sacked 2 Licenced Engineers during his last 2 weeks with ADA for spite, and left ADA with a smile on his face.

As332l12 21st March 2017 22:08

nothing has changed there then !

driftwood1 21st March 2017 23:16

If it's the guy I'm thinking of, I can tell you that even the Aussies didn't like him. :ok:

Wear Kevlar body armour and walk with your back to the wall at all times

Seems to be some listings on their website for pilots, but very vague, no minimums etc mentioned. Does anyone know if they're hiring or creating some sort of a pool?

spinwing 1st February 2018 09:36

Mmmmm .....

As a rule of thumb they will want you to have an ATPLH as a minimum ... and preferably 2500 hrs PIC and some sort of twin engined Heli type rating ideally BH412. If you are already rated on the 139 ... there are better places you can go to work.

Alas (and unless the system has changed) there is no option to upgrade CPLH holders to ATPLH in the UAE without the candidate sitting ALL of the appropriate exams in the UAE syllabus. :ugh:

Cheers ...

present salaries

Can anyone update the current salaries and benefits offered by ADA?? What work schedules do they offer viz 8/4, 6/6 on-site etc? Do you get paid for the OFF period??

Canuck Guy 29th August 2018 23:28

Well pilots are jumping ship at an ever increasing rate right now. Some are leaving without a better offer or job to fall back on. They’d literally prefer unemployment to doing one more tour with the company.

Let that sink it. It should tell you all you need to know.

spinwing 30th August 2018 00:16

Mmmmm ....

Well pilots are jumping ship at an ever increasing rate right now ....

So does that include the Hispanic guys as well or just the anglo's ??

And .... why is it so ??

Canuck Guy 30th August 2018 01:21

From what I hear it’s mostly anglos, but a few amigos have left too. Safe to assume the reasons haven’t changed from when this thread first started.

- The pay is garbage
- “Don’t like it here? **** off” mentality
from management.
- The pay is garbage.

Be interesting to hear from someone currently there. Seems a sad situation. Lots of good fellas there, they deserve better.

spinwing 30th August 2018 01:29

Mmmmm ...

... so not much has changed in 25 yrs then ?

:uhoh:

gulliBell 30th August 2018 01:32

Jeez when I was there years ago the accommodation was rubbish....did the expat staff ever move out of the internment camp and into new digs?

spinwing 30th August 2018 01:45

Yeah ... I visited the 'new camp' a few times before i retired from the area ... it was actually very good .. especially when compared to the 'old' camp (which i actually didn't mind too much ... which only explains how twisted I was !) .... funny how with time you forget the bad things and only remember the good and the camaraderie ....

GoodGrief 18th March 2021 04:12

I'll pull up this old thread.
I've been told that ADA now hires pilots without any twin time. They even take on pilots straight out of R22s and put them in 412s.
What's going on ?

gulliBell 18th March 2021 05:40

Here comes the rain on your parade...minimum experience requirements for pilot and co-pilot positions are posted on the Abu Dhabi Aviation careers portal.

Whats going on is that the industry has been spiraling downwards for years now, with profits getting lower and lower.
With shareholders not willing to give up on their plans of buying more condos in UAE and overseas, the companies had to cut expenses.

Cutting expenses when the client requires up-to-date aircrafts is only achieved by lowering salaries.
Lowering salaries is only possible by firing the "old, highly-experienced, highly-paid" pilots, and by hiring young pilots who will fly for food.

That´s what´s happening.
