Abu Dhabi AW139 Training Center Named</SPAN>

AgustaWestland has designated Horizon Flight Academy’s joint venture with Abu Dhabi Aviation (ADA) as an authorized training center for the AW139 in Abu Dhabi. Horizon is a subsidiary of Mubadala Aerospace. The agreement calls for ADA/Mubadala to train pilots using an EASA-approved AW139 Level D full flight simulator (FFS) from AgustaWestland and CAE. AgustaWestland CEO Bruno Spagnolini noted the importance of serving operators the Middle East adding that the ADA/Mubadala partnership will provide “AW139 type conversion, recurrent and operational role training to operators across the region.” Abu Dhabi Aviation’s commercial helicopter fleet includes 16 AW139s

Experience

Ephiphany. I know what you mean. Also find a lot of guys telling me how good they are and what they can do and all with less experience than me. It leaves me wondering how much of it is BS and how much is true. It usually comes out in the end, but I have known people to get jobs they are not actually qualified for by being economical with the truth. We call it "parker pen hours" where I grew up!

However,I prefer to get there slowly and honestly and push my limits so that they remain just inside my abilities. Any instructor / check pilot should be able to judge whether you have been less than honest or not, then again, maybe he wasn't :}.

These days it seems like nobody wants to invest in pilots, we are expected to arrive already qualified and experienced. I really don't mind serving my time in return for an endorsement on a particular aircraft. And if you look back to just 4 years ago, there did not seem to be all these requirements for 300 hrs / 1 year offshore experience, but since then, I have not noticed offshore machines falling out of the sky, so why suddenly all these restrictions? :ugh:

Ah well, i shall sally forth and keep knocking on doors and hopefully I may come across a guy in a pinch who can persuade his client and their insurers that I am "safe" enough to fly for them :E

Aluta Continua:)

Good on you. It is a cyclical (excuse the pun) industry and I have been in it long enough to have seen several of them. I don't think it will be too long before you will see the minumum requirements dropping. Bon chance.

ADA have just told me via a form letter that I have the experience they require, but they don't have any vacancies at the moment....which leads to the obvious conclusion of course.

spinwing 23rd November 2011 10:37

Mmmmm ....

.....which leads to the obvious conclusion of course....

Which would be ..... that they have no vacancies at the moment! (for you). ;)

Dash 8 Pilots

Hi guys, I have gone through all the pages here about ADA and I was wondering if ADA is full up with Dash 8 drivers? I have a plethora of Dash 8 Captain exp. even on the Q400 and my family is on my arse to get a job in Abu Dhabi. My wife has been offered a good job there so it would make sense if I could land a job there too... please let me know what the deal is pay and roster wise and if ADA needs any Dash 8 drivers.
Thanks again
6to8

spinwing 6th January 2012 15:29

Mmm ...

DHC6to8 .... The websight does atm show vacancies for fixed wing drivers ...

I would suggest you complete the web based application THEN phone Capt.Jack Lunn their Ops manager and talk to him directly indicating your interest and saying that you have already applied via the web .... that might motivate some action to retrieve your data from the 'confuser'.

If they want you you'll know pretty quickly ... if they don't ...................

Good luck

PS the fixed wing work is pretty BORING ..... :{

Paddyviking 7th January 2012 10:03

Can you expand on "Boring in Saudi"

BORING

:E

Because you do very little flying.

Sulo 7th January 2012 10:44

But does anyone know what are the conditions they are offering to fixed wing pilots for dash 8 q400?

I am also very interested in going there, just as our fellow before said..my wife is also grabbing me by the nuts for us to move there...

thanks in advance!!

mikelimapapa 9th January 2012 03:43

Paddy,

0500 - wake up
0530 - breakfast
0600 - local red crescent driver makes sure you are awake by impressing you with formula 1 driving skills
0630 - arrive at base(hopefully)
0630-1200 - peruse every known corner of the internet for stupid/funny/disgusting videos to entertain yourself and fellow crew members. master solitaire/minesweeper/pinball and every other game preloaded on windows. drink excessive amounts of coffee
1200 - lunch arrives, take turns guessing what mystery meat they have sent you today. unfortunately there are no winners to this game
1300-1830 - repeat morning activities
1830 - back to hotel

Repeat for 41 more days

Sulo,
Unfortunately this is Rotorheads so you are not going to get the best answers here, fixed and rotary are pretty much separate operations. They work an 8 and 4 schedule and service a couple islands in the gulf. Short legs, approx 30 mins, 2-3 trips per day. Bachelor accomodation provided. No idea what the pay package is like, sorry.

spinwing 9th January 2012 04:21

Mmmm ...

Mike .... naughty naughty ... your making the job sound far more attractive than it really is ......

;)

Have fun mate ..... :E

mikelimapapa 10th January 2012 08:33

Hush up Steve, you are going to ruin the master plan. How else am I going to lure some suckers here? I need the Saudi roster to fill up so I can go back to AD;)

Hope Dubai is treating ya well, I'll give Salah your regards

spinwing 10th January 2012 09:46

Mmm ...

Oh yeah the "master plan" ... I forgotten .... I'm so jealous ...... NOT. :E

Take care over there eh .... Keep smiling ... yeah say Hi to (Voldemort) for me ....

Cheers :D
