Time will tell how good V-22 is.

By the way, OGE ceiling of 5000 feet is at MGW.

Even Ch-47D does not hover OGE at 10K density at MGW!

The picture was taken at RIAT (Fairford) by Nick Blacow who posts on PPRuNe as Man-on-the-fence.

Well done Nick Blacow - great shot. :ok:

That is a great pic of the Apache. Must be contender for the August calender......if its remembered this time ;) :E

"if its remembered this time"

Bear in mind that BlenderPilot who's very generously been creating our calendars from the beginning, and John Eacott who's now kindly helping share the workload, are both volunteers. ;)

Nice of them to edit out the copyright data :(

Where did your friend get it from, I think I need words.

Thanks for the correction Mod.

August 2005 calendars

I was spoilt for choice this month, with some stunning shots from RS2 of the RNLAF Apache at RIAT: too hard to choose which one to use, so there is a choice;)

Also an action photo of CHC's Helimed One from LaTrobe Valley winching into a crash site here in Victoria after a blizzard: difficult conditions, full marks to the Kestrel pilot who found the white aircraft wreck in the snow.

and a couple of widescreen versions:

A rescue last night for a downed Para-glider pilot.
Bell 407 ALF arrives from neighboring Canmore Base to fly the class D sling rescue. We are class D capable in CYGE, but had NO ground crews available!

We staged from a BC Forest service mountain top repeater site at 7,800'.

Some more top calendars for our desktops.

This month, our thanks go to John Eacott of The Helicopter Service Australia for creating the calendars. Good move offering a rescue helicopter at work in the snow option for our many Oz members who, like you, are in the middle of winter ar the moment.

Thanks to Paul Bunch one of our British members who captured a Dutch Air Force Apache displaying at RIAT recently.
Stunning shots, Paul. :ok:

Just wondering what images people enjoy each month. Do you want military one month and then civil or would you prefer to have one of each for each month.

Only reason I ask this is I am going to be out travelling and shooting a lot over the next few months so depending on what people enjoy I might shoot some specific images for John and Blender to have a look at for monthly calendars.

Cheers

Ned :ok:

Robbo Jock 2nd August 2005 21:36

My vote's for one of each, if you don't mind. Then I can grab the one that grabs me !

Before I got the superb Apache shots, I had prepared another August page using a "historic" shot from my old collection. Down the track, would photos from some years ago appeal as an alternative calendar, or would the majority here rather have modern helicopters only?

cyclicmicky 3rd August 2005 06:24

Hi John,
thanks for the calender, it will be another one to remember no doubt. I seem to be having a little trouble with the picture quality, it is all out of focus. Is there anything I can do to sharpen it up??
Regards
Micky.

John Eacott 3rd August 2005 07:57

Micky,

I take it that you are following the thumbnail link to the full size image, not trying to use the thumb as a calendar?

zhishengji751 3rd August 2005 09:54

John,

Old, new, military, civilian.. its all good :)

I appreciate the work you guys do for the calendar.

I like the SH-3 one as well.. don't use 'em all up in month ;)

Not the best of photos, but thats both of the 222's I believe are on the UK register.

Didnt JJB get a new 430, does anybody know what colour that is ?

Flying Lawyer 3rd August 2005 11:08

I agree with zhishengji751.

Leave it to the calendar producers to choose the subject.

We've had a good variety since the calendars started - and haven't had a bad one yet.

cyclicmicky 4th August 2005 06:05

Hi John, sorry for the delay,
I right click on the picture and then set as background,...this is what I normally do and all is well...perhaps I have a problem at this end?

Edited!!
I left clicked first..got the image..and then set as background..PERFECT!!
Cheers
Micky.
