One of our 300's with the new experimental 'Shortar' system installed. At the moment this consists of an old cardboard tube and a timed out tail rotor taped to it. Many thanks to Graeme at Blue Tongue for hosting our nonsense. |

Great shot! How are the apaches handling the dust and associated problems compared to GW1?
|
Yep, did a few of those in my former life. Not in anything as exotic as a 64 though.

http://aircraftstories.free.fr/mono/s67/export/2.jpg http://aircraftstories.free.fr/mono/s67/s67/6.jpg Nick Lappos comments That Sikorsky S-67 Blackhawk (the one-word Blackhawk!) was for a while the fastest helicopter in the world (219 mph), and a dream to fly. The top photo has John Dixson in the back seat (he is Sikorsky's Chief of Flight Operations today at West Palm Beach) and the bottom photo shows Byron Graham in the front seat (he was the Dean of SA test pilots) and in the back was Kurt Cannon (he unfortunately died at Farnborough in 1974). As a very junior test pilot, I had the fortune to have 2 flights in the S-67 in 1974, when we prepared it for the airshow. It was the smoothest, fastest helicopter I ever flew, and rolled like a dream. |

There was an absolutely classic print advert floating around a few years ago. The scene was late dusk, you could just see the outlines of trees, hedges and that unmistakeable silhouette. The strap line read:
Apache. Now there is reason to be afraid of the dark. |
Where's Septembers Calendar?
I'm suffering from withdrawl symptoms, and missing the next edition of the rotorheads calendar

These photos were transferred (I assume) by one of the moderators from another thread. Unfortunately the acknowledgement of their source was not transferred with them. The photos come from the Bristow Helicopters 50th Anniversary Website which can be found at http://209.196.171.35/. It is a site well worth visiting. http://209.196.171.35/images/gtigkditch.jpg http://209.196.171.35/images/sinking61.jpg And this one is deliberate http://209.196.171.35/helimage/61inwater_big.jpg |

Thanks Blender, the Rotorhead desktop calendars are like having Christmas every month! :ok:
|
Excellent photo. Have you entered that into the current competition?
Thanks, Matthew. |
Thanks Blenderpilot
As said before, we look forward to our new calendar each month. Nice photo!

Thanks for stepping in to help Carlos.
Great pic too. :ok: |

As our ski season comes to an end, the weather can still play tricks and catch us out: this morning's sunrise showed we were only a mile from the helipad, but conditions were so bad yesterday that a safe landing was the best option ;) The chookfooters weren't too impressed, though....

No longer a calendar virgin!
My very first calendar, sitting proudly as my desktop background. Just a quick post to echo the comments above - fantastic photo. :ok: DBChopper |
Trying again...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3.../TheReason.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...arten/View.jpg Eh..no. Didn't work out to good Tried to remove the %20 in the lines of the first photo, ended up with red x. Out of ideas Your album and sub-album names are too long, and seem to be confusing the Pprune software so they won't display. I suggest you change them to shorter names. When you've done that, don't meddle with the links. Good pictures by the way. Heliport |
It's not you...
I don't think PPRuNe website allows such a long string. I was able to manually pull it up in my browser (after removing spaces and putting the % symbols back), but was NOT able to repost it here using same string that worked within my browser. Try using a path closer to your website root.

It works!!!
