R22 Flight Manual PDF

Hi all,

Done a search and couldn't find one, but anyone got a FM for an R22 on PDF, I want to brush up on emergency drills pre FI rating.

Thanks

Maybe I have missed out on an ammendment at some stage then. Line three of my "Daily or Pre flight checks" reads "Warning light test switch ....... Push to test." Dated 13th Oct 2000. Has there been an update to that?
Master switch...................................................... .....On
Strobe and Navigation Lights...................................Check
Oil Pressure, alternator, GOVERNOR - (lights)..On
Warning lights test switch........................................Push to test

Suggestion

Well apart of not doing the auto solo (as i learned in another post)...

You may do Heavy S Turns or 360, the centrifugal force will 'HELP' on building a bit of RPM. Keep into mind that you will fall quicker to the ground any way. I don't know how well this works on an R22 but on Jet Ranger, it works like a charm!

r22 performance problem

r22 beta, 8000 ft pressure alt, temp is 5 degrees c.

see page 5-5 pf the POH. you can maintain an IGE hover with a weight of 1300lb - right??

but... look at the limit manifold pressure chart on page 2-10. what is your maximum allowed MAP?

anyone shed any light on this?

organ donor 10th November 2005 19:18

Goose Boy,
There is a chap in London who sells broken aircraft, including 22's. Don't know his no but give Pat a call at Heli-air Wales, he has dealt with the guy.

Gaseous 10th November 2005 20:08

Goose boy,

Paul Nalson has a dead ex AA R22 and a couple of others as well. I have his number somewhere. PM me if you're interested and I'll see if I can find it.

can anyone answer my question re: MAP limits at altitude???

this is the problem with "the r22 corner", everything gets lumped together and posts get ignored

With the current price of Avgas in the UK that could be a winner.

foxtrotdeltamikezulu 16th November 2005 21:01

Just curious, but does anyone know of the small horizontal plate on the bottom of the vertical stabiliser?

HeliEng 16th November 2005 21:09

foxtrotdeltamikezulu

If you are thinking about the bit I think you are, it is to do with having floats fitted. They fit a plate to the bottom of the vertical stab, I believe to aid in flotation!!???

Hope that helps

You can just sort of see it in this picture

R22 Mariner

But this one shows it a bit better

R22 m/r gearbox.

Can anyone out there help with data on the correct bearing preloads and gear backlash on the 22 main rotor gearbox. This particular gearbox is to be used to carry out experiments on something rather interesting! Many thanks Bug.

Capt Hollywood 30th December 2005 01:43

HeliEng,

I doubt that little plate would aid in flotation, I thought it was meant to act like a hydrofoil. In the event of the tail striking the water it would prevent, or at least reduce the risk of, the tail and tail rotor submerging.

Mariner II

Plate on the tailboom.

It is there so if you land on the water nose high, especially if you flare too late in autorotation, the tail doesn't enter the water, the plate will force the nose level.

It is made out of plastic/fibreglass and weighs very little. It just bolts onto where the strake normally is in a Beta II

FYI - You can adapt the Mariner II to fly like a Beta II, remove the floats and special skids, tail plate and it becomes a Beta II but you cannot change a Beta II into a Mariner II (too much specialist anti-corrosion stuff added when built).

Extras on the MarinerII:
Tail Plate
Floats
Extra Long Skids
Anti corrosion protection
Tailboom is 1 degree higher.......
Weighs around 55lbs more

Mariner

I am sure the Mariners also have the battery in the nose.
I have heard a theory that Mariners that have had the floats removed are faster than an ordinary Beta because the casting that carries the tail feathers is set at a different angle to fly the floats properly and consequently makes the tail ride higher.

R22 owners / operators

Hi,

Does anyone know any R22 (or 44) operators in South West England? I know of one at Exeter Airport but are there others? Private owners perhaps? I tried a search but i think the forum has a problem.

I recently passed my FAA PPL(H) and am looking to hire for a few hours inbetween trips to the States.

Cheers.

Hot Gossip On R66 Production

Rumour has it that the new R66 is going to be a twin diesel turbine engine and might infact resemble the enstrom with five blades on dual rotor syslem. Anyone else got gossip.

Re: Hot Gossip On R66 Production

Yes I did hear this...

It also has retractable skids, flown from the left hand seat, and fenestrom tail rotor.

The limited edition model has fluffy dice signed by the great man himself, Frank Robinson.

TRIMAN you are retarded!!
