Just got mine today Ned, many thanks for a calendar full of great pictures!

Old Farang 16th Nov 2021 06:01

Recieved mine yesterday Ned. Thank you very much.

Just a point of interest on the cover photo:
Long before I owned and flew helicopters I worked on the installation of the Muai A "jacket", the bit that holds up the platform!
I was a marine engineer on an (Australian) supply boat. At the time the installation had been shut down due to weather for about 8 months!
Cheers Ned.

Hey all

Another year already? Like so many other posters (no pun intended), this year seems to have blended into the last. On the SAR front, things have tapered off substantially, which has probably got a lot to do with a reduction in international tourism to these parts. HEMS is quieter too, although it's ticking over and keeping the doors open.

Have managed to not become infected with covid yet, and we've transported many covid+ patients, but they're decreasing in numbers lately as well. Possibly the calm before another wave. I received the two-jab Pfizer vaccine, courtesy of the makers of Viagra. Only thing that went stiff was my arm.
Have a good festive season, may 2022 be a good one for you all.
Cheers

Ok, let me be part of the solution. :ok:

Just like last year, I have been flying my butt off. At least for the better half of the year. In late summer had a stupid non-aviation-based accident and subsequent reconstructive knee surgery. I'm grounded since almost four months now, recovering too slowly for my taste but according to the doctor I'm on a good track. They say my knee will never be the same but chances are that in a year or two I will be able to use it without significant limitations in every day life. Land is in sight and luckily I didn't lose my job over this. Hopeful to be back in the air beginning of next year.

All the best to everyone!
Kia ora, ned!

Last chance everyone to get one before Xmas.

Hello Ned,

Thanks for al the great work you have done for all of us to have those calendars.

It has been a year not too bad overall. It started with a work in a bad way in more ways than one: I lost a bad job only to land a significantly better in the same field. It is not the best job I ever had but it pays the rent or almost. We did have a rare snowstorm in early 2021 so I had the opportunity to make some nice pictures. I had Astra Zeneca and the worst part of it a wasp attack that put me in a dose of antibiotics that delayed the second dose for almost two weeks. Very nasty attack it was.

The family secondary residence was spared from the big fires in August maybe a case of Murphy's law as it is insured against fire. There were some worrying moments though. Summer season in the Mediterranean is practically the only area/time I want to see aviation professionals out of the job: I hope we manage to find a way not to have forest fires large enough to require aerial fire-fighting operations.

I flew commercially just once in September - just to see how it feels to be on an aircraft with a face mask on. Despite it was a short flight I had a chance to think about mistakes I have made so far.

I have make good use of an activity monitoring band - it comes with a target of 8,000 steps per day. I try everyday to achieve this target which helps me with my fitness. Plus the local pool is available after the lockdown and I swim everyday.

Also a tv game I taped last year was aired few weeks ago. I lost to the final round but friends and acquittances had good words about my performance.

It could have been a year with things going much better or much much worst. So far it has be a slight positive sign.

Received my copy a few days ago - been away for work. It will hold special place of note on the office wall for the year to come.

Once, again, many thanks to you, good sir.

best regards,

John

Calendar 2022

Strangest year yet working.
long work periods away from home 12+ weeks followed by shortish (4/5 weeks) time at home. Not ideal but extremely great full to have a job.
Hoping that 2022 is great year for all of us.
